Album: Visions (2017)
Artist: Touch Sensitive

I was never alive in the 70s, nor the 80s, but if Touch Sensitive’s homage paid in Visions is accurate, I think the music, at least, would have been very up my alley. As a standout effort in the world of nu disco, this album knows when to take it slow and when to up the ante.
For someone who largely got big off of a cult hit - ‘Pizza Guy’, back in 2013 - Touch Sensitive has the air of someone who’s far more seasoned in the world of official releases with this album, but it does explain some of the choices that leave me a little baffled - most notably, reprising a song directly after the one prior. It’s not a horrendous misstep, but it’s one that doesn’t totally add up to me.
His best work is clearly in the bridges he produced - snappy keyboards driving under whip-quick synths, all of which jump to take center stage when the leading vocals fall to the side, leaving nothing unwanted.
The production grooves deliciously, and though it’s not all hits, it’s just damn good funk. I can jive with that.
Rating: 8.3/10
Best Tracks: Putting On Airs; Lay Down; Don’t Stop the Beat
Worst Tracks: Comfortable - Reprise; The Mystery of Cats
