Welcome back to the Daily Spin, the series in which I review 365 albums during 2023.
Each album will be given a rating on a scale from 0 to 10. You can look at the entire set here. Additionally, you can check out a list of my favorite song from each album right here.
Album: Genetic World (2001)

There are moments that break through the monotony in this album where I find myself intrigued - the sort of music that feels a predecessor to quite a few artists I like, sort of a Young Fathers type of vibe, particularly in the middle of the album - but too often, the album is a nothingburger.
I listened to this earlier today and I’m having to come back to it just to recall any of the songs with any sort of distinction, and that’s my biggest gripe - at no point does it ever choose to be anything beyond the very basic blocks of what it currently is - and while it’s well-instrumented and there are moments of lovely arrangements (L’incertitude sounds like an early ODESZA or Four Tet track), it’s not quite enough to buoy the remainder, especially as that remainder gets more and more odd and experimental in a negative sense.
Rating: 7.3/10
Best Tracks: Love Can Damage Your Health; L’incertitude d’Heisenberg
Worst Tracks: Da Hoola; Trishika
