Album: Crack-Up (2017)
Artist: Fleet Foxes

Here’s the thing: this isn’t bad music, and in a lot of ways, I’m probably being a little harsh on it, but I’m also sat here trying to figure how Fleet Foxes have grown and developed their style as an act and I’m drawing near total blanks.
Much like 2008’s self-titled, this is solid but unremarkable music - but the difference is, nine years on, many groups have gotten to the point of being able to claim some of that market share, and Fleet Foxes, in turn, feel significantly less remarkable for it. If none of the music is revolutionary, then a major draw for the group is neutered.
I’m left wanting, at its core, something different. That’s the greatest problem here.
