Welcome back to the Daily Spin, the series in which I review 365 albums during 2023.
Each album will be given a rating on a scale from 0 to 10. You can look at the entire set here. Additionally, you can check out a list of my favorite song from each album right here.
Album: Florida (2015)
Artist: Sarah Mac Band

For brief moments, I find myself intrigued by this album and what this band has to offer, but it is those fleeting moments and nothing more that keep me engaged to the Sarah Mac Band’s Florida, an album that is almost definitely the least widely-known record to feature on the Daily Spin.
Unfortunately, I can more or less see why. Through eleven songs, I’m left with no strong impressions, nothing outstanding about the instrumentation, and vocals that are, at best, wobbly, all of which combine to paint a less-than-flattering portrait at the end of the day.
I respect that this triad went ahead to make the effort to put their music out there - much like OfF.Brand last month, I’m always going to have a modicum for respect for how these people get up and put themselves so fully into this, knowing assholes like me are going to tear it apart. That respect, however, does not shield them from criticism, and I’m left wishing that Florida was anything else, something more, something different, because all that it is right now is a collection of things that other people have done better a millions times over.
