Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: DREAM SOUP (2022)
Artist: Mindchatter

At its best, DREAM SOUP feels like a galaxy to be explored, pushing and pulling between incredible sensations to build and destroy with a fervor that gives every note such gravitas they are, in turn, nigh impossible to ignore.
At its worst, it’s a muddle disaster of nothingness - tracks that endlessly feed into one another like some cursed Mobius strip where you never quite know where you are but you do know there’s no getting off Mr Bones’ Wild Ride.
Reality, of course, is somewhere in the middle. Mindchatter is incredibly good at the intricate details, and indietronica above many genres allow producers to flourish through demonstrating finesse in those tight margins - but, when the missteps happen, they’re all the clumsier for it. Songs alternate between woefully misplaced acoustics and club-ready bangers with little pomp, and it leads to a simultaneously confusing and frustrating experience where great songs transition into straight garbanzo with no real warning that it’s happening.
Soup is a good term for this record - as with any soup, though, you have your ups and your downs.
