Welcome back to the Daily Spin, the series in which I review 365 albums during 2023.
Each album will be given a rating on a scale from 0 to 10. You can look at the entire set here. Additionally, you can check out a list of my favorite songs from each album right here.
Album: Polydans (2021)
Artist: Roosevelt

I love a good indie dance album, and few embody the pure energy and joy that can come from an album like this quite so effectively as Roosevelt’s third, Polydans.
The standouts are these thumping anthems that elate and drive you to move in the same breath - despite running over four minutes pretty consistently, not one of these songs really feels like they overstay their welcome, and many times the best parts are at the builds three, three and a half minutes in, when he really sends it and you feel the same exhilaration that touches your soul on the dance floor.
By sliding back the presence of guitars somewhat, Marius Lauber provides, instead, this shimmering quality to his trance-heavy synths, one that adds significant dimension when compared to his self-titled from five years back.
Somewhere between RAC and Rostam, this is a fantastic little set to groove to, one that I’m so glad I was recommended. It’s the sort of music that can pull me out of a funk, spur me through a tough workout, or provide the backing track to a night with friends. I love it dearly.
