Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Wildcat! Wildcat! (2013)
Artist: Wildcat! Wildcat!

Despite the rather hokey name here, this group isn’t an NFL defense announcing an opposition’s formation change, nor is this an overenthusiastic toddler going to the zoo - just a LA indie pop trio, trying to make it big after the break of opening for global superstar Passion Pit at SXSW (in a show sponsored by Taco Bell, strong hell yeah from me).
There’s a lot to like here - classic California indie flair that pairs well with a sort of downtempo production style, edges of jazz trilling their way through to give the music a nice little bump and groove.
Every song here is a bit of a fruit salad - a lot of things that might work if you put them together, but the only way to be sure is trying - and on their self-titled, it’s evident that Wildcat! Wildcat! were more than confident in their ability to pull it off. To my great surprise, they’ve mostly got there.
