Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Panic Vertigo (2018)
Artist: The Wrecks

The Wrecks are another band that I’ve always been aware of on the periphery of what I tend to listen to - as a featured artist, a producer, or some other credit, but rarely had I been familiar with their music until ‘James Dean’ earwormed its way to damn near the top spot on my Wrapped list last year.
The thing about Panic Vertigo is this - yes, you get two absolute bangers in ‘Figure This Out’ and ‘James Dean’, but they’re ballasted a bit by the rest of the album, which mostly feels like three fluff pieces to hit a run time rather than the headstrong power pop that the lead two tracks are.
It’s a record that would have likely been served better either as a more cohesive and longer project, or as a short term quick run of singles - but in the interim, I’m here to scream along to every word of these tracks while I can. The rhythms are strong, the guitars a wall of sound in the best sense, and though I wouldn’t call any part of the record pristine, the sound is balanced between grungy fuzzed edges and a more clean-cut presentation.
