Want to like this a great deal more than I actually do - instead, I’m just kinda left waiting for each song (and by extension, the album) to finish.
It’s this weird peppy-yet-kinda-emo sentiment that doesn’t really accomplish either particularly well, and in doing so, wastes a half-hour of my time. The music doesn’t ever really get great, but it’s also never quite bad enough to just give up and set my headphones down.
There are good bones here, and I’d be interested in looking at other projects from Brown - this one just isn’t connecting for me.
