Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.

I thought this sounded a lot like Metric, so imagine my surprise when I found out that Metric vocalist Emily Haynes was a key producer on this record! Points for name brand value and double points for recognition factor.
Great hooks are the headline here - pretty much every Beaches track I’ve ever dialed into has an absolutely fantastic little run in the chorus that sticks in your head as though it were superglued in. It’s imperative for power pop records to convert on that, and this one does it better than most.
At the end of the day, I am let down by the lyricism here - there’s a lack of variability here that isn’t quite a death knell, but definitely puts me in a position where I’m left feeling like there’s unrealized potential. Still a genuinely great debut and one that leaves me excited for the future.
