Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Promise (2014)
Artist: Mark Redito

Every once in a while, I like to dip into the universe of music I’d never think about - among those is an EP from a decade ago by a guy who used to go by both Cocolulu and Spazzkid. Thankfully, he chose to pursue a career under his chose name, because both of those are not exactly what I think of when I think smooth hooks and easy listening - yet, that’s what Redito provides on 2014’s Promise.
It’s short but sweet, with a feature from Sarah Bonito (yes, of Kero Kero Bonito fame) and a pleasantly dreamy atmosphere easing us forward, touches of J-pop. The parallels between KKB and Redito’s work can’t be oversold, really - they’re omnipresent throughout and after some time become a pressing issue you can’t really ignore. Not because the music is really bad, of course - it’s generally pleasant electropop - but at the end of the day, you’re left wondering why you’re listening to one and not the other - sometimes both ways in a single song.
