Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: 5 (2019)

This is a fun little jam record, dubiously any number of genres at once while never really sticking anywhere. The closest it feels is maybe neo-soul, but it’s this wonderful little chameleonic feeling.
As fun as it is, the album is definitely weird, almost a little off-putting. Little pitters of drum and bass interspersed with electric piano, all while some funk-ass grooves rock overhead… it’s a lot to take in at once.
The shame of it all is that I really do like the individual pieces, but I’m so thrown by the combinations on display here that the intended effect almost totally misses.
