Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: always cloudy (2023)

I really love a strong guitar performance, especially when it comes out of the midwest emo school.
Of course, that’s the main factor of that genre, so that’s a bit like saying I like when race cars go fast, but the point still stands - it’s an art form, surprisingly difficult to do well, and I’m quite impressed at how easily always cloudy notches a place in that hierarchy.
It’s not an EP that always converts - there are two clear standouts over a healthy serving of middling work here, but the great moments shine so brilliantly - particularly strong is the middle riff of ‘eat me alive’, the type of music that plays looped in my head for hours, days, weeks on end.
