Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Cola (2018)
Artist: A Beacon School

Really lovely dream pop that took me by complete and total surprise - I was really not expecting something so emotive to come out of this band, one I was not familiar with prior to tonight.
There are quite a few autumnal albums in my rotation - it’s my favorite season, and that extends to music oft associated with fall. Cola fits right in, sparse and melodic production that makes me feel like I’m walking in the woods, leaves crunching under my feet. During a year when we’ve all been somewhat missing that feeling during this remarkably short ‘autumn season’, it hits all the harder with the right sentiments.
The coolest thing about it all is the use of guitar - the riffs build and build, until they almost sound like a wall of synths bearing down upon you, all one giant tidal wave - it’s beautiful, bold, and the exclamation point on a brilliant effort.
