Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Heiress (2017)
Artist: Novo Amor

When I reviewed Novo Amor two years ago, I made a distinct point to draw the comparison to Bon Iver - some of the highest praise that I can bestow to an indie artist, and fully earned through unbelievably strong instrumentation.
What I love so much about Novo Amor’s work is the sparseness - this is an oasis within a desert played out timelessly, moments of gorgeous shine through the stark landscapes - and Heiress is a continuation and a prognosis, the steady thrum of a motor carrying a ship forward.
Rarely does a group manage to make the quiet sound so loud and the loud so quiet. It’s this versatility that sets Novo Amor apart from so many other post-rock creators, and one that carries them forth to curate vast soundscapes unlike most anything we’ve been blessed enough to hear.
