Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Tongass National Forest (2025)
Artist: Goth Babe

Goth Babe is quintessentially of their own sound to a point that it’s nearly impossible to envision them as anything else - which is, I should note, a very good thing. It’s just intriguing to see yet another production that winds up coming across largely identical to previous releases.
There’s something to be said for finding your formula and making it work, but I simultaneously think there’s likely an additional point to be made about never stepping outside of one’s comfort zone - Goth Babe have steadily backslid into the latter grouping over time.
The further I find myself from California, the less appealing I find this music - it still hits every once in a while when I’m tracking down beachy tunes for a sunny day, but this is the kind of stuff that has more than worn out the fresher side of its appeal - a shame, really, because there’s an optimism about this sound that, when struck right, can clear even the gloomiest of skies.
