Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Jinx (2019)
Artist: Crumb

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: indie rock meets jazz meets airy production meets - oh. You’re actually stopping me?
Here’s the deal.
The above recipe is true - what this means in reality is that you’re getting a really solid album for what it is, full of strong production and pleasing sound to the ears, all under well-told lyrics that call you to give this album more and more of your time - one of not-very-many records that gets better on repeat listens, I think.
And yet, there’s something about this that puts its ceiling lower than I think I would maybe want it to otherwise be. Perhaps it’s the sameness to it all, or maybe it’s the way the records feels like a bowl of stone soup, forever just taking bowls out and throwing the odd veggie in to change the flavor a tiny bit. A little too much sameness to it all.
