Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Someone’s EP II (2019)
Artist: Baynk

Baynk produces thoughtful, restrained electronica - the sort of music that never really elects to step outside the set bounds given to it - as though it were dreaming, in a way.
From humble beginnings, this New Zealand-born artist has managed to carve out a space in the understated side of the electronic underworld, letting his simple beats and gentle movements do the talking. It’s fun to see the beginnings of that take shape, especially against his first release and later efforts beyond this - this is, after all, a pretty standard sophomore effort, if you ask me.
Despite that, there’s a lot to like here - steps toward greatness become evident looking at the production behind songs like ‘Water’ and ‘go with u’, both of which lean heavy on the lower ranges and soar all the higher for it. While the whole record rarely ever seems quite so strong, the best parts of it shine through clearly enough that this record can find its people.
