Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: My Star (2024)
Artist: Junior Varsity

Out of absolutely nowhere, Junior Varsity have dropped one of the smoothest EPs I can recall - this super fun fauxback to the indie dance scene of the early 2000s - sawing guitars, back-and-forth vocal passes, and the sort of lingering undertones of love that make for the best quick-dash songs.
At a brisk 15 minutes, there’s not really many wasted minutes (the two that end the EP are about as close as you get, but the skip button works quite well here to keep the good vibes rolling. The rest of it is just enjoyable as all hell - the clear standout is the opener, something about that call-and-response during the chorus sending me to new heights, chanting like it’s a Disney Channel movie or something.
It’s silly, but it’s heartfelt, and converts more often than not - all you can really ask for in a record, honestly.
