Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Good Kid (2018)

Not sure there are many songs as earwormy as ‘Nomu’, the opening single off of Good Kid’s self-titled debut EP. I mean, seriously - talk about a perfect debut. It’s everything I look for in a track - strong instrumentation, great vocals, a lovely little call-and-response section - it doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it’s also jam-packed with the little details that make the track so damn memorable.
If the rest of the EP (and truly, the rest of Good Kids’ catalogue) was so strong as Nomu, they’d be in serious contention for a favorite band of mine. As it stands, that’s not quite the case - though the band is rarely ever truly weak, it’s a lot of music with similar mouthfeel as Peach Pit or PUP (both, conveniently, cited as influences) and done to better effect by those groups. Kinda feels like they’re still feeling out their niche - and while I get it, I’m still hardly settled into a career… it has been seven years.
Also, they apparently got kinda big off Fortnite. Guess they rizzed me up pretty good, sigma style.
