Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Iteration (2017)
Artist: Com Truise

I talked a little about Com Truise years ago, referencing his penchant for the tightly-constrained 80s aesthetic that he so favors - where other synth artists might drive towards a multifaceted approach, Truise is so singularly locked in on this one feeling that it’s all he’s really ever done - to the point that previous released have felt flatter for it. WIthout anything to grow towards, the music never evolves.
Unfortunately, the same can largely be said for Iteration. It’s not that it’s bad - quite the contrary, as this is a new level for Truise, with tighter production and sleeker synths working together to provide an elevated experience - but again, too much of the work feels like it’s spinning circles endlessly.
The brief moments where he finds that beat in his artistry and breaks those chains are ethereal, flashes of lightning amidst a dark sky, but they’re too infrequent to really make this anything above mildly entertaining.
