This is, straight and earnest, a Great Value-brand Wombats record distilled into its highest points and placed into an EP.
This is not to entirely diminish the work of the group here - PALMSY could and clearly did make a career off strong instrumentation, those great guitars which sail and sing plentiful throughout, even enough to overcome the weaker vocals and the copycat nature of this record.
If nothing else, your takeaway should honestly be to check out the Wombats. They’re pretty good and a little less entirely derivative.
