Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: This Is Not An Album (2018)

Well, the thing about This Is Not An Album is that it is definitively an album. Like, there’s not even a point in arguing it. It is, in every way, an album. Silly title.
That gripe aside, this is pleasant, if unspectacular, house music. It’s the kind of thing that more or less bounces you along through your day, decent to bob your head to but situationally a little blander. It’s clear that this is sound meant to be enjoyed at a festival - if the videos of people grooving to his take on ‘Sweet Disposition’ or ‘Out of My System’ at European beach towns weren’t a clear enough hint on the matter.
Therein lies the issue - an album so clearly meant to be grandstand fodder can’t really succeed at the base line of “my living room on a dreary Tuesday night” - like Messi, the lingering question of whether he can do it in Stoke persists, because this beachy sound rings a little too false and ingenuine after repeated brushes.
Though it’s a good sound when the cylinders are firing, it’s only really a good listen on a happy day.
