Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Leisure (2018)

Serves a lovely reminder that it’s always worth looking into those artists that keep on cropping up in your suggested playlists. More than anybody over the last few years, that’s been Zealander pop/rock/indie group Leisure’s whole deal from my perspective. Show up for a week, earworm, then I forget to investigate and move on.
The self-titled here is really quite nice, though, especially considering it’s a debut full-length. Fun elements of psych rock and funk push through to add dimension and keep the sound from becoming too rote, but it’s also quite clearly comfortable enough with itself as is to never really need to get that desperately strange with itself.
The diverse arrangements here work really impressively - like getting all your friends together and it somehow not leading to massive social fissures. I’m quite impressed.
