Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: the sugar machine (2024)
Artist: slenderbodies

Slenderbodies, as a duo, exist in the space that I like to call ‘music to background to’ - though it doesn’t have the hype of other contenders on the list, I feel like few artists really nail the aimless sound that’s necessary to really lock in the night before finals.
The problem is that this is every track that they release, and last year’s the sugar machine is no different - it’s a pleasant enough sound on the surface, but there’s no direction, no growth, and absolutely nothing to give this music any sort of long-held space in my memory.
I really don’t hate this - I can’t stress that, but I’d be fully lying if I said I was going to come back to this or think about it beyond writing this review. I can’t give that more than half-credit.
