Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Treats (2010t)

Sleigh Bells know how to make loud sound good.
This is a really kick-ass debut record - back when this was coming out, some teased demos had a lot of people setting rather high expectations for this noise pop band, and it’s very evident (in my opinion) that they’ve comfortably notched their name into the right cylinders.
Treats does everything in the sort of moderation you’re supposed to apply to sweet-tasting things - and it works so well. By never really pressing too hard on any one piece - the wailing guitars, the electro- and hip-hop-influenced beats, the strong-shouldered vocals - everything is granted a moment to shine with the sort of efficiency you might expect from a far more experienced group. It may not always work, but you have to give them some credit for navigating this with the sort of heady awareness I’d expect from far more involved bands.
It’s a rapid-fire sort of moment to experience this record, and I find myself wanting more and saddened that it doesn’t really seem to be there. Nevertheless.
