Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Follow (2016)
Artist: Memowrecks, Jenna Pemkowski

It’s been a while since we had a ‘one great song head-and-shoulders above the rest of the record’ kind of day, but we’re back and more separated than ever on 2016’s Follow, a collaborative project released by Canadian producer Memowrecks and singer Jenna Pemkowski.
Both relative unknowns prior to and since this effort, it’s a splash in the pond that beautifully displays a technical proficiency, with layered bass production lines beyond their time and a sense for evocative vocals without needing to overwork the voice - and yet also provide comfortable sense for why this was not a long-term partnership nor a long-term career in either case, with lackluster over-top harmonies that ballast already unspectacular vocals in one too many cases.
With not quite enough in the tank, it’s tough to push this much further over the line than I’ve already scooted it. I appreciate what they were going for, that’s certain, but it just doesn’t execute half-as-cleanly as I think it probably is capable of with a little more care.
