Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Temporary Time (2023)
Artist: Bayonne

This is pretty brilliant.
I came in with little knowledge of Bayonne’s catalogue, but had been treated to previous singles via Discover Weekly and my various playlists, so I had a rough idea coming in of the general vibe here.
I was astounded at the quality of this, though. The looping and layering are some of the best in the game currently, allowing an ambient work to find such depth, softening experimental choices while letting them breathe enough to flourish.
It’s not quite perfect, and I’d say it ends on a bit of a dud with the last track, but a really huge chunk of this is pretty spectacular effort - the emotional weight is evident, and an album made during a trying personal time becomes a flowering masterpiece in its own right. It’s a phoenix risen from the ashes in sonic form. I fuck with that.
