Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Blossoms (2016)
Artist: Blossoms

Unbelievably catchy music that’s hamstrung by the overt polish that leaks through every single note on this album.
The best songs are so good to hum along to that they’ll sit with you for hours and hours - I think ‘Charlemagne’ has been in my head more than just about any other song since I first heard snippets of this album some years ago - but I struggle. There’s an air of false superiority here - you’re supposed to take this album so seriously, and it just really isn’t ever that deep!
As an imitation of 80s pop, it’s somewhat pale, if devout. There’s a lot to like in the syrupy hooks and the funky touches that line the bones of this record, but it just winds up a little too preppy, a little too straight and narrow to really last outside of the best few songs.
Rating: 7/10
Best Tracks: Charlemagne; Honey Sweet
Worst Tracks: Blown Rose
