Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Communicating (2017)
Artist: Hundred Waters

An album built to fill the missing spaces that does so much more, Communicating is beautiful, sparse, but full of moments that show a greater depth than has been previously seen on Hundred Waters projects.
This, their third, has moments of brightness, a sudden lucidity that grabs hold of your soul and shakes something free. It’s absolutely captivating contrasted to the black void that so much of the record seems to be orbiting - never in the sense of desolation, but in the sense that this is an album with its walls up.
These heights aren’t as frequent as I’d like them to be, but it offsets an album that is rarely ever truly bad (more than anything, I see it as a very specifically mood-dependent listen) and adds such light and freshness to an album that sorely needs it. When you finally open the window to let the air in after a depressive phase, it feels a little something like this.
