Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Kingdoms in Colour (2018)
Artist: Maribou State

Oops - little late. We’ll pretend it’s still yesterday.
This is easily consumable electronica made by a band with the same name as one of those custom schools on CFB 26.
That’s fine and dandy, of course, because there’s nothing wrong with choosing to make lowest-common-denominator music, but it feels a bit of a regression considering previous efforts by the group. Outside of the collaboration with Khruangbin, the comfortable standout track, there’s not really anything here that makes me think “wow, this is really excellent”. Instead, I’m generally left thinking “wow, this feels like it doesn’t fully utilize the talents at hand”.
