Welcome back to the Daily Spin. For the uninitiated, this is the series in which I review an album every day of 2025.
As was the case two years ago, my favorite song from each album can be found at the playlist linked here.
Album: Blood Type (2018)
Artist: Cautious Clay

Deeply samey and deeply 2018 - in an all-encompassing sort of sense, this is the epitome of the late-teens pop movement - bleeding indie sound with the same soft hooks that have introduced themselves more and more, paired with a synthetic sound that has found itself the centerpoint of many an electropop record.
I’ll give Clay credit for being first to the pile - but that doesn’t excuse the rabid sameness that overtakes so much of what could be fantastic about this record - about midway through, you get some excellent diversions and distinct sound, but for the most part, it’s all one congealed mess - like the time I accidentally made cheese curd (singular) in the air fryer.
