The best way to note this album is as a collection of songs that are greater than the sums of their parts. Though few songs on this album left much of an impression on me, I’ve found that on the whole, this album stuck to me as a story told.Â
One of my favorite things about this album is the variance in sound - thought it all sounds vaguely in the same realm of music as far as electronic-ish, the variance from song to song is pretty cool in this case as it lends more credence to the supposed talent behind this project (two of the members from Tally Hall and a close friend of theirs comprise Miracle Musical).Â
There’s a part of me that wants more cohesiveness to this album, because I think this errs to the far side of the trouble that other albums have fallen into regarding sameness - this is almost too separate, where it doesn’t quite feel like these songs belong together in any sense. A lot of the music doesn’t really catch with you, and few songs hold any sort of memorability, positive or negative, but together, there’s a bit more oomph to the album than there would be otherwise.Â
