Album: Somewhere City (2019)

This album goes super hard.
I don’t have a lot to say about it, honestly - the guitars do everything and more to power through these tracks with all the energy that pop punk demands, keeping enticing rhythms and complex patterns with the same skill that’s used for those simpler riffs.
Unfortunately, every song feels like it’s lacking a little something. I don’t know if it’s a personal preference regarding the vocals, which has always been a gripe of mine with punk-adjacent music, or if it’s something with the entire song being set to volume: ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM that makes it a little heavy on the noggin.
Either way, it’s not nearly enough for me to be disappointed in any way with this from - from open to close (a beautiful moment of circularity, if you pay attention), Origami Angel portray a city that could be everywhere just as easily as it could be nowhere, and I can’t help but love that.
