Album: Frailty (2021)
Artist: Jane Remover
Link:
Frailty is a modern exposition of anxiety, illustrated what it feels like to be trapped in your head in the digital age with a deft hand, showing that Jane Remover, as an artist, has tremendous potential.
Though this album does give a bit of ‘edgy teen on TikTok making videos they’ll regret around the time they get married’ energy off, it’s not a constant presence - which is decidedly for the better, as the moments where the noise is allowed to run amok tend to be the weak points of the entire album.
What I love about this album is the touch of electronica inside the album, turning what could otherwise be predictable emo indie into a multivariate equation where everything comes together to give a correct answer - given the album’s focus about coping with the anxiety that comes from existing in our modern world, a bit of a synthetic touch, almost Porter Robinson-like, airy but clearly electronic.
