This is my second review for No Rome - you can find the first here:
Album: RIP Indo Hisashi (2018)
Artist: No Rome

It’s hard to say too much about RIP Indo Hisashi, No Rome’s debut offering, especially considering this is the second release of his we’ve looked at. This is a shining beginning, though, one that clearly states that No Rome is on the scene and intent to compete with the best in the industry. Behind him, he’s got titans in The 1975, and it’s clear that their influence is present here, even beyond the collaboration that makes its appearance on this record.
He’s careful to never let a song hang too long, keeping things light and airy, lyrics full of sentimentalism over teenage romance and everything tied to those pretty feelings, the shimmering joy of young love coloring everything. Much like the artist he references in the EP title, he keeps things simple without holding too much meaning to them, and it’s a great stylistic choice.
It’s effortlessly catchy, comfortable without going overly soft, and pulls no punches in production or vocals. It’s very much what I want from an EP like this - and when my biggest complaint is that it’s not long enough, that’s a very good sign.
