Short review, because this is one of those albums for which so many things have already been said and it’s difficult to say anything new on it.
It’s classically strong, Phoebe Bridgers near her best and Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst the second half of the pair, doing what he’s shown he can do so well for what - 20 years? There’s a great deal to like about this.
Where it falls below the 9-threshold is that it doesn’t feel innovative in any real sense. For two relative powers in the indie rock world to bring this to the table isn’t a failure, but it some way it feels like there was material left on the table.
