Album: The Fame Monster (2009)
Artist: Lady Gaga

Few artists have withstood time like Lady Gaga has - in part, I think, because with The Fame and today’s album, the sequential The Fame Monster, she was ahead of her contemporaries.
It’s the same electropop, dance-hall music, synth heavy in all the right ways, the sort of stuff that drips with memories, good (the casino scene in Percy Jackson and the Olympians) and bad (middle school dances).
It’s absurdly cheesy in some ways, looking back, but this also feels like Gaga’s true coming-out party, the point where she said to the world “hey, I’m here for real” - and since then, she’s kept doing her thing. Though the schtick feels a little dated now, looking back on this album, the fond memories remain.
