Album: The Living End (2022)
Artist: Sarah and the Sundays

This album glows nicely, a subtle beaming that fills out dimension where the record requires it without overstepping into the path of the rock music that so comfortably encompasses the space.
There are moments where this record falls a little too much into sameness - for an album that reflects somewhat on pandemic boredness, it’s a fitting path - but it does drag somewhat in the middle, while the front and back end feel like a very strong open and close to the record and like they’d make a more cohesive tracklist stapled together.
Every peak has a valley as every valley has a peak, and it’s only logical that this album can’t be consistently strong the whole way through, but I do find myself wishing there was a little more punch at the center of this record. It’s good indie rock, a pleasant touch of what I like to call “sadboi” music driving its emotional weight, but it feels a little bit bloated - like maybe you need to talk to someone and get it off your chest.
Rating: 7.8/10
Best Tracks: Pulling Teeth; Are You Really Gonna Show Up Tonight; Coward
Worst Tracks: Veneer; Miss Mary
