Album: For That Beautiful Feeling (2023)
Artist: The Chemical Brothers
Link:
Over three-quarters of an hour, the Chemical Brothers make it clear that they haven’t lost a step - even though they’ve now been doing this for the better part of three decades.
Though it lacks the single starpower that previous records of theirs had - think of ‘Galvanize’ or ‘Go’ - For That Beautiful Feeling brings to mind the wildly efficient consistency that the Chemical Brothers have come to embody, a big room electronica album that builds, ebbs, and flows while maintaining those stringent quality controls that have allowed them to do this ten times over.
Though it doesn’t always resonate, a lot of this is just good-feeling and good-sounding music, the sort I’m tempted to crank to 100 and let ride, music I could easily groove to in a room of many people, and that’s music I’ve sorely missed over the past few years.
