Welcome back to the Daily Spin, the series in which I review 365 albums during 2023.
Each album will be given a rating on a scale from 0 to 10. You can look at the entire set here. Additionally, you can check out a list of my favorite song from each album right here.
Album: Kaiho (2017)
Artist: KAUAN

I could essentially copy and paste my review for Valtari into this one - northern European-language post rock, strong instrumentation ballasted by mediocre vocals. Though I actually find myself enjoying KAUAN’s vocal work less than I do Sigur Ros’, not least because of how it’s mixed, it’s almost nearly made up for by the instrumentals, which, if you ask me, are significantly better
It’s fine music, but it’s not special, and it’s hard to sit down to a whole host of songs ranging from 7 to 10 minutes twice in a week. I like post rock as much as the next guy, but it’s a tedious genre if not done terribly well, and this slips just enough into those pitfalls to become really draggy.
